More twists and turns than any spy thriller/comedy has a right to have... which is one of the complaints folks made about this movie, BUT.. I liked it. I enjoyed every twist. The trope about the author actually writing about real events that they are unaware of has been done before (though I can't recall where). Then the author is the actual SPY with amensia... and her parents are .. well.. I don't want to ruin everything for you. Suffice to say that for a while it's hard to tell the real bad guys from the good guys... So.. enjoy.

A reclusive author who writes espionage novels about a secret agent and a global spy syndicate realizes the plot of the new book she's writing starts to mirror real-world events, in real time.

There are some slight, but excellent, changes from the book. Chani tells the Freman, "This is how they enslave you!", when talking about the religious overtones of them following Paul Atreides. She sees how the Fremen will be controlled by religion and cannot condone it - actually leaving in the end of the film despite her love for Paul. This highlights the fact that Paul can see the future and the billions of lives that will be lost and embraces that path in order to avenge his father. Billions for the life of one. Pretty horrible in the end.

But the story is so well told.. so well filmed.. and so well acted that it is perfect even for a fan of the original book. Loved this.

It's nice that the old Ghostbuster's style is back, but this one is a little disjointed. I like the new generation being introduced (though how they got from a farm in the middle of nowhere to livining in New York is a loose end). And the movie looks like the script was not finished when they started shooting resulting in ... well ... nonsense. (Example: There is a subplot where they head back to the New York Library and meet up with Patten Oswalt to get an old recording needed to summon some spirit or such ... but then .. they lose it and didn't need it anyway. I mean.. What? Why was that even in there.. just so they could do the scene outside the library where the stone lion comes to life?) It's a nice action movie with a nostalgic touch... but it might also be the end of the franchise. (Oh.. another loose end... Gobbler is in the attic.. for no reason). I liked it... it's not too scary for the kids.

Well.. someone wanted to make a dinosaur movie outside of the Jurassic Park franchise and this is the result. Adam Driver crashes on Earth, 65 million years ago, almost to the second that giant meteor is about to smack into the planet. And he, and a young girl, have to fight their way through hungry creatures to get to the rescue ship and get off this planet. The result is predictable.

Well.. an action movie just about always get 3 stars... but this one doesn't get more than that. Effects are good. Can't wait to see the behind the scenes moments.

I think they are taking a lot of liberties with physics here to say that there is a whole civilization in the "quantum realm". I mean.. the "quantum realm" underpins all of reality... move one inch to one side or the other, and you are in a whole different "quantum realm"... I mean they make out like it's just a place, like a planet, you can go to and where you always end up. The scientist in me shakes his head in shame.

Okay.. so lets just treat it like they are on another planet. Fine. Then it becomes a mildly interesting action movie about a bad guy who is trying to get back to the "real" world so he can start being a bad guy again. And of course, our plucky heroes need to stop him. And, that's the movie. Not much about it makes sense, but it's kind of a fun time if physics doesn't matter any more. So.. enjoy it for the fact that it is a Marvel movie, and it has a nice sprinkling of jokes.

Super-Hero partners Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) and Hope van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) return to continue their adventures as Ant-Man and the Wasp. Together, with Hope's parents Janet van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer) and Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), and Scott's daughter Cassie Lang (Kathryn Newton), the family finds themselves exploring the Quantum Realm, interacting with strange new creatures and embarking on an adventure that will push them beyond the limits of what they thought possible.

What a fun film. If you are an anto-woke republican, you might not like it, because it touches on subjects (and makes fun of them) that you may hold dear to your stingy little heart. But everyone else is going to love it. And I mean all ages. Margot Robbie is a joy to watch (as always), and all the other casting choices are perfect. Kids will like the idea of live Barbie... adults will find all the commentary on modern social issues fun. And I love that they included Rhea Perlman as Ruth Handler - the woman who actually invented the Barbie doll (based on a German cartoon character who was featured in bawdy cartoons).

This movie is a fun ride... with many laughs for everyone. No wonder it became a hit.

Barbie suffers a crisis that leads her to question her world and her existence.

The summaries available on the websites don't actually say much, so here is mine: Barbie lives in a perfect world with all the other Barbie's and Ken's. Her life is perfect until ONE day, her feet go flat (recall, Barbie always wears high heels). Things start to go wrong in her perfect world so she seeks out "weird" Barbie - a Barbie that was played with so hard that things about her just got.. weird. She learns there is a real world and that if she wants to fix her life she needs to go there and find out who is playing with her that is causing this. Talk about a revelation. But as she goes there, Ken comes along. And the real world is a revelation to him as well. He discovers that MEN are in charge and takes this information back to Barbie land. In the mean time, Barbie is nearly trapped by the toy corporation (run by men) that made her to try and silence the fact that she has escaped. Well, needless to say, Barbie learns a lot and makes her way back to Barbie-land, only to discover that the Ken's have taken over and instituted PATRIARCHY

Oh dear... I enjoyed this way too much. There is so much gruesome death.. and it is hilarious. There is no telling who is going to get out alive (hint: Most don't) or in what horrific way they are going to die (hint: it's not always the bear). This has laugh out loud moments.. and some edge of the seat moments when folks get cornered who you really don't want to see die.

Shout out to Christian Convery, who plays 12-year old Henry.. and, ya gotta love this kid's character. Checking I see he has quite a resume already so I expect to see a lot more of him in the future. I was also surprised to see Ray Liotta in this movie as he just recently died. Kind of a fun near-final part for him. (As a ganster, naturally)

Do not take the kids.. or anyone who's sense of humor is not a bit twisted. Otherwise.. go.. be shocked at what you laugh at.. and enjoy.

Inspired by the 1985 true story of a drug runner's plane crash, missing cocaine, and the black bear that ate it, this wild thriller finds an oddball group of cops, criminals, tourists and teens converging in a Georgia forest where a 500-pound apex predator has ingested a staggering amount of cocaine and gone on a coke-fueled rampage for more blow... and blood.

Having never played D&D (though I would like to) I can't tell how close this sticks to the feel of the game.. but others say it is pretty close. So.. It's a pretty good time. Some convenient bits happen to move the plot along. There are a few laughs. There is some good action. I rate this ok.

A charming thief and a band of unlikely adventurers undertake an epic heist to retrieve a lost relic, but things go dangerously awry when they run afoul of the wrong people. Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves brings the rich world and playful spirit of the legendary roleplaying game to the big screen in a hilarious and action-packed adventure.

We learn Rocket's tragic backstory... and we learn that the cruel people who created and tortured him are STILL after him to use in a maniacal plot to create a perfect society.. This really will bring tears to your eyes. I really enjoyed this movie.

In Marvel Studios "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3" our beloved band of misfits are looking a bit different these days. Peter Quill, still reeling from the loss of Gamora, must rally his team around him to defend the universe along with protecting one of their own. A mission that, if not completed successfully, could quite possibly lead to the end of the Guardians as we know them.

Disney hit it out of the park with the Pirates of the Caribbean movie based on the park ride. Here they tried to do the same with another great ride - The Haunted Mansion - and failed completely. The film is good enough, if you are a kid, and there is no faulting the casting, but the whole thing just did not click. What a disappointment. The ghosts are not that scary. The rules (and the haunting) seem contrived. Rosario Dawson is great (love watching her). But the whole thing is kind of ho-hum when you get the climax of the movie. What a shame.

A single mom named Gabbie hires a tour guide, a psychic, a priest and a historian to help exorcise her newly bought mansion after discovering it is inhabited by ghosts.

HAHAHAHAH...What a pile of garbage. I mean.. not stinky smelly garbage.. just ridiculous crazy garbage. I get the feeling that everyone in this movie knows just how bad it's going to be but figures, "Hey.. a paycheck is a paycheck." Even Jason Statham, not the world's greatest actor, doesn't seem to be even trying. And that makes the whole thing kind of hilarious.

Plus the science... my head was going to explode.. walking around at the bottom of the ocean with no pressure vessel..but it's okay if you put water in your sinuses because that way the water won't compress you... um.. just ignore the air in your LUNGS.. I mean, come on.

Feel free to watch this.. or have it playing in the background while doing something more interesting.

I few too many car chases in this, but I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. The boogie man in this mission is an AI that has managed to wend it's way into every countries defenses. Apparently it can be turned off... but only if you have the key and can find the sunken sub... which no one can find. This movie is about people (everyone including the US) trying to get the key. I imagine the 2nd part will be trying to find; get to; get into the missing Russian sub.

Like all the Mission Impossible films, the stunts in this film are amazing. However, the big sky dive stunt was done before and better in a James Bond film. Still... I have no clue how they manage to do all this stuff safely. If you like Mission Impossible, then you will love this.

This is a great piece of history. Oppenheimer ran the project that created the atomic bombs used by the U.S. against Japan to end the war. This was a moral dilemma for sure. Then, after the war, his political enemies decided to destroy the man and his work. I'm just glad that these people are on display for who they are... and that they will go down in history for their scurrilous actions.

This is a LONG movie - 3 hours, and every minute of it is great. Oppenheimer is on display with his foibles exposed. His moral misgivings are shown. His infidelity. His dalliance with the American Communist party (which is why they destroyed him in the McCarthy era .. a shameful time in American history). He was a man, a husband, and somewhat of a father.

I really enjoyed this and recommend it to anyone with an interest in American history, physics, and science in general.

Renfield is the servant of Dracula.. and he is tired of it. He wants out, but can't figure out how to do it. This is a pretty campy look at what it is like to be a slave of Dracula, and how you would ever get out of that position when he does not want to let you go. Nicholas Cage does very well playing Dracula and Nicholas Hoult is great as Renfield. In the process, Renfield earns the friendship of a cop played to funny effect by Awkwafina. (And just on a side note, one of my favorite actresses is in this movie.. Shohreh Aghdashloo playing a real bad ass leader of a drug gang.)

Worth seeing for the chuckles.. but naturally be aware of the gore... plenty of that.

Renfield is forced to procure his master's prey and do his every bidding, no matter how debased. But now, after centuries of servitude, Renfield is ready to see if there's a life outside the shadow of The Prince of Darkness. If only he can figure out how to end his codependency.

This movie is a train wreck. Entertaining enough for a super-hero movie, but the plot is a tad silly. If time travel was so easy everyone would be doing it and everyone would be screwing up the world timeline and history would be a chaos. Well.. with just the Flash able to do it, history still gets screwed up.. and, also in ways that don't make sense.

Ehhhh.. I won't watch this again.

Worlds collide in "The Flash" when Barry uses his superpowers to travel back in time in order to change the events of the past. But when his attempt to save his family inadvertently alters the future, Barry becomes trapped in a reality in which General Zod has returned, threatening annihilation, and there are no Super Heroes to turn to. That is, unless Barry can coax a very different Batman out of retirement and rescue an imprisoned Kryptonian... albeit not the one he's looking for. Ultimately, to save the world that he is in and return to the future that he knows, Barry's only hope is to race for his life. But will making the ultimate sacrifice be enough to reset the universe?

I love a coming of age story... and, though this does not exactly fit that mold, it has a lot of similarities that make it just as good. The characters learn much from each other and each is changed by what they learn. The ending, though not unexpected, is not as satisfying as most of the coming-of-age genre due to being rather sad/tragic.

Paul Giamatti is fantastic as always. and Dominic Sessa is absolutely amazing considering this is his first and only feature film outing. The two start as pretty much enemies and at the end, have each other's backs in the face of troubles.

A side note, if you watch the preview for this movie it will look like something out of the 1070's. I believe this is completely on purpose, harking back to movies made in the era in which the film takes place. In fact if you pay attention during the title sequence you will notice 2 things.. that phony static and film dust is added to the picture and that the credits are displayed at the start of the movie in the style of the time. This too adds to the feel of an old style movie that transports you (subtly) back to the time (1960's) of the story.

I highly recommend this movie for the story and the acting.

From acclaimed director Alexander Payne, THE HOLDOVERS follows a curmudgeonly instructor (Paul Giamatti) at a New England prep school who is forced to remain on campus during Christmas break to babysit the handful of students with nowhere to go. Eventually he forms an unlikely bond with one of them -- a damaged, brainy troublemaker (newcomer Dominic Sessa) -- and with the school's head cook, who has just lost a son in Vietnam (Da'Vine Joy Randolph).

Kind of a fun little movie about a family that discovers they have a ghost in the house and the different reactions to that fact. The young teen who first discovers him makes him a friend and wants to help. The Dad wants to use him to make a profit. The Mom (the sane one) says, NOPE, we are moving out. Which would be enough to hang a plot on, but in addition there's a washed-up CIA agent who wanted to capture and study the ghost - and uses the full force of the U.S. government to do it. And calamity ensues..."

A ghost movie that is fine for the kids to watch. Consider this family fare.

Finding a ghost named Ernest haunting their new home turns Kevin's family into overnight social media sensations. But when Kevin and Ernest go rogue to investigate the mystery of Ernest's past, they become a target of the CIA.

The culprit is easy to sus out in this who-dun-it thriller about a CIA operative who is looking for a mole in the organization. It's given away fairly early in the film. Shame. Most folks miss it because they can't wrap their head around that "fact" and the parts everyone plays in the "investigation". I say anything more and it will just be a spoiler alert.

And the trend to film things so underexposed you can't see what is going on continues in this. Maybe they thought that having dark scenes would convey how dark the whole plot is.. yeah, no. Just plain hard to see.

CIA agent Henry is tasked by his supervisor Vick to close an eight year old hijacking case that ended in tragedy. Vick has recently learned that there is a suspected mole who helped give the perpetrators information to impede the rescue attempt of the passengers. Being cleared by Vick, Henry is sent to interview his former colleague and lover, Celia, a possible suspect due to her abrupt departure from the CIA the day after the hijacking. The now married and retired Celia meets Henry in a California restaurant after he reaches out to her and asks her to dinner. Through multiple perspectives, timelines, and interviews Henry, Vick, and Celia hope to find out what truly transpired that day. —madnbryant

It is interesting that the movie starts with "Some of the events in this movie are true." - Be sure to stay until the end when they show you exactly HOW much is true. It's a bit shocking."

Having said that, this is a movie people should watch given the political situation in this country at the moment. The plot is about a plot.. to have a fascist dictator installed in the White House to mirror what is happening in Germany with Hitler and Italy with Musolini. Believe it or not, THIS is the true part of the movie. Whether there were 3 friends who were instrumental in exposing this plot is the fiction. The only thing standing between the fall of democracy anywhere and those who would be dictators are the few souls who will do the right thing regardless of personal danger.

And.. this movie is way too long. So much time was spent on the relationship of the 3 friends... that could have been cut. It's tedious. Which is probably why its not doing well at the box office. However.. still worth watching.

I was a little confused about some of the characters. And I was confused as to why the Navie allowed humans to come back to their planet. And, by passing all the ethnic and racial appropriation controversies... this movie is really fun to watch. Pandora is an amazing moon (it is a moon going around a gas giant planet). Ignoring what is to me giant evolutionary hole, the creatures and the ability to bond mentally are both interesting. I would rate this a 3 but the visuals just pump it up a notch. This is an amazing movie and will probably become part of cinema history over time.

And, though this is 3 hours long, humans are still on the planet and I can't see a way the native population is going to get rid of them.

Then there is the theory - proposed by a friend of mine - that Pandora is actually a post singularity planet.. hence the idea that... once you bond with eywa (embodied by a tree in the first movie and another plant in this one).. you never really die because you are uploaded. Interesting.

Set more than a decade after the events of the first film, "Avatar: The Way of Water" begins to tell the story of the Sully family (Jake, Neytiri, and their kids), the trouble that follows them, the lengths they go to keep each other safe, the battles they fight to stay alive, and the tragedies they endure.

Disappointing. The justice league comes in to fight a new super hero and defend the criminals who are killing and robbing the common people. And they are commanded by a woman known to kill innocents herself. The dissonance of this is something I just can't get beyond. The movie is a flop if only for this reason. The good guys are not the good guys, and the bad guy does nothing but defend himself and be super strong - which makes him the bad guy. This is utter nonsense.

Yeah.. action. Yeah, Peirce Brosnan. Yeah, Dwayne Johnson. But it's not enough to turn this into a good movie. It just seems that the DC universe (other than the original Wonder Woman) can't make a really good movie with the characters. What a shame.

Visually wonderful - like all the Marvel movies. Plot wise.. meh. Suddenly there is a new player on the scene.. someone who SHOULD have been discovered long ago.. and lo and behold.. for stupid reasons, that new player decides to attack Wakanda rather than their real enemy. It's... disappointing. It's a disappointing plot.. and makes the movie a disappointment as well.

The death of Chadwick Boseman is handle with grace in the movie. His character is dead suddenly, right at the beginning. At the end there is a bit of tribute film of Chadwick Boseman - I wish he was still acting.

So.. that's my review. A long movie with a disappointing plot.

Queen Ramonda, Shuri, M'Baku, Okoye and the Dora Milaje fight to protect the kingdom of Wakanda from intervening world powers in the wake of King T'Challa's death. As the Wakandans strive to embrace their next chapter, the heroes must band together with the help of War Dog Nakia and Everett Ross and forge a new path for their nation.

This seems to be a typical Liam Neeson action movie... He's a restrained but tough guy until someone pushes one of his buttons and THEN he starts to screw things up for the bad guys. And, once again, the real trigger in this outing is, once again, his family being threatened. He needs a new kind of movie to make...

Travis Block is a government operative coming to terms with his shadowy past. When he discovers a plot targeting U.S. citizens, Block finds himself in the crosshairs of the FBI director he once helped protect.

If you are the least bit squemish about cannibalism, don't go see this. That said, this is a very good movie. It's a coming of age film - a romance - a horror movie - a wrap into one with a really good cast. You will be sitting there watching two young people on a journey of discovery - trying to figure how to have a relationship when they have this major shared issue (the need to feed on human flesh) and thinking, this is so interesting. Then a few minutes later you are leaning away from the screen as someone is being eaten by them. (Note: They are not the only "eaters" in this movie.. apparently they are mildly common and have an uncanny way of smelling each other out.) In this sense the movie definitely a roller-coaster ride. And as horrible as is their need, they are not unsympathetic characters. You find yourself hoping their life will work out.. wondering what their future will bring.

Thumbs up from me, but not for everyone.

Who knew riding on a train could be so fun. Seems like everyone is out to kill someone on this train... or prevent someone from being killed and failing. Brad Pitt's character, Ladybug (if you can believe it), has returned to the business of theft and assassination with a new look on life and is trying to remain calm, while everyone he meets wants him dead (for various reasons). He constantly tries to maintain a zen state of mind.. even trying to get others to join him WHILE they are actively in the act of trying to kill him. It's hilarious. The whole situation goes from not good.. to bad.. to awful.. from the start to the end.. and there is just a kind of inevitability to it all the is really funny. I guess you would have to call this an action comedy..

This one gets a big thumbs up and worth multiple veiwings.

Don't begin to hope this movie will mean anything if you have not seen Clerks I and Clerks II. But if you have seen them... and you love these characters, then you will love these characters again - just as crazy and flawed as they have always been, but now middle-aged and thinking about their own mortality.

A lot has happened since we last saw our friends. Jay and Silent Bob now own a business - selling legal weed - surprise. Their business is in the old video store and they still like to do everything standing in front of the Quick Stop. Dante married Becky (Rosario Dawson) and they were looking forward to a child when she was killed by a drunk driver. Oh.. she is still in this movie.. providing Dante with support when he needs it. Randall is still a total asshole - but now he is an asshole with a purpose. After a heart attack scare he decides to make a movie about their life in the Quick Stop. In other words, he is going to make the movie Clerks!!! And not things get very self referential.. and funny.. because after auditions, everyone ends up playing themselves.

Spoiled enough already... how this ends will be a tear jerker if you love these guys. Enjoy.

Dante, Elias, and Jay and Silent Bob are enlisted by Randal after a heart attack to make a movie about the convenience store that started it all.

Who the hell wrote that summary? It has almost nothing to do with the movie that I saw.

Enter, Dr. Strange who saves America, but gets sucked into battle with Wanda that ranges through several realites, risking the destruction of all of them. (A couple, apparently, have already been destroyed.)

Visually amazing.. but silly in sections. It felt like, hey, lets throw everything into this plot line, including various kitchen sinks and see what sticks. It was all a bit much, but if you like the MCU, then you will like this (including the reference to the Fantastic Four in the mix).

Oh.. and if you want a throw-back to the classic Ferris Bueller's Day Off - stay until the very end of the credits. It's a chuckle.

Dr. Stephen Strange casts a forbidden spell that opens the doorway to the multiverse, including alternate versions of himself, whose threat to humanity is too great for the combined forces of Strange, Wong, and Wanda Maximoff.

Well.. disappointing. Glad they brought Dan Fogler's character Jacob Kowalski back, but other than that.. there was something lacking in this. How did Queeny end up with Grindelwald when she was so in love with Jacob at the end of the last movie... It felt like they just did it to have a reason to bring his character back. And this wasn't the only silly thing in this movie.

Some nice acting. Always like Mads Mikkelsen. Looking forward to seeing more of Jessica Williams - something about how she played the character Eulalie 'Lally' Hicks I liked.

If you are a total Harry Potter world fan then you have to see this.. but if not, I'd beg off this film.

Okay... some of the premise of this is just nuts. People saying that dinosaurs can co-exist with the modern human world. Looney Toons!! And I guess I would have to go back to a previous movie to be reminded of why the clone character, Maisie Lockwood, is so important - or why she even exists.

Putting that aside, it was cool to see the "old cast" and the "new cast" brought together in the same movie. (A bit like Spiderman: No Way Home - though much more startling in that film). Sam Neill, Laura Dern (always loved her), and Jeff Goldblum are great in the new premise. Another crazy corrupt tycoon.. why are they always crazy and corrupt.. seemed a little bit over the top. And people not being able to tell that the giant locusts were OBVIOUSLY part of an evil plot when they only eat non-genetically modified crops (the modified ones belonging to the, OH WAIT, crazy, corrupt tycoon - SURPRISE - NOT!!!). Bull-hockey like that keeps this film from getting a 5 star rating. It all just seemed forced (Like... WHY did they need to go to the evil lair to get the Locust DNA - when the same DNA was flying all around the world... Huh)

So.. if you like the Jurassic Park concept and series.. this is kind of a must see - even with the amount of just plain stupid in here.

Men are watching them and they are told to get Maisie and Blue's child which they do. Owen and Claire set out to find them. They ask some friends to help them and they eventually learn that it was Lewis Dodgson, owner of Biosynwho ordered their abduction.at the same time the country's crops are being attacked by some unusual locusts, Ellie Satler investigates and suspects the locusts were created by Dodgson who wants the world to rely o his crop that the locusts have not touched. So she asks Alan Grant her former partners help her. She was contacted by Ian Malcolm who works for Dodgson who invites them to Dodgson dinosaur sanctuary which is also his lab. They set out to prove Dodgson scheme but in the process they meet Maisie who bonded with Blue's child whom she named Beta.they try to escape but Dodgson tries to stop them. Allison Janney as a bad ass secret agent... I LOVE it. This is a not very good action movie that puts this actress (whom I love) in a completely different kind of role than she has done in the past. And she owns it like a boss. I think the film is worth watching for this alone.

There are some twists along they way (like the identity of the "bad guy" in this whole scenario); and some raw unprocessed feelings that have to be put aside for the sake of survival. So kind of interesting. But like I said. Love Janney, and enjoyed watching her in this role.

Thinking she'd put her dangerous past behind her, Lou (Allison Janney) finds her quiet life interrupted when a desperate mother (Jurnee Smollett) begs her to save her kidnapped daughter. As a massive storm rages, the two women risk their lives on a rescue mission that will test their limits and expose dark and shocking secrets from their pasts.

This movie starts with getting the science of something as simple as an airlock wrong.. and goes down hill from there. How did something so bad get such good actors? This is like a 1950's B movie.. the kind I grew up with (and yearning for something better). Anyway.. these actors did the best they could with what they had to work with. Particularly liked the KC Houseman super nerd character played by John Bradley .. he was funny the entire time.

Don't bother with this one if you like good science fiction.. it makes no sense...

p.s. This was in and out of theaters so fast it made my head spin.

Venom is not a hero.. but he is funny. Morbius is not a hero.. and that is pretty much all you can say about him. I can't see ever liking this character. Lots of dead people.. some of whom didn't need to be dead, and for what? So Morbius could live to fight someone of his own making? A menace that he created.

Just a bore. Some might like it.. I don't know the comic book background on this, but it's not for me.

Dangerously ill with a rare blood disorder, and determined to save others suffering his same fate, Dr. Morbius attempts a desperate gamble. What at first appears to be a radical success soon reveals itself to be a remedy potentially worse than the disease.

Is that a UFO? Is a UFO what we think it is? Is it something much worse than what we think it is?

This is not a horror movie. It's a thriller that starts slow, but builds steadily to a pretty horrible conclusion. Lives are in danger. Lives are lost. There are flashbacks to events that just add to the tension this movie builds (but for the life of me I have a hard time figuring out why they are included.. they sure put you on the edge of your seat though.)

This is a fun ride. Take it. Be confused. Feel free to be confused. Be shocked. Holler for the characters to "GET THE HELL OUT OF THERE"... and enjoy the ending. It's worth it.

What a fun ride!!!! The music will have you bumping. The story will blow your mind. This is a fun, fun romp with some pretty harsh things to say about British colonialism (completely deserved). There are scenes that are hard to watch and there are twists again and again. It's basically a Bollywood super-hero movie. I watched this with my wife and she said it was the best movie she had seen in ages. Who can believe at 3 hours long this never has a dull moment. Thumbs up up up!!!

And, for film students.. this has so many old movie tropes that alone makes if fun to watch. Flash backs, foreshadowing, scene blocking to move the story, POV changes... it's fun.

During the British era, Malli, a small tribal girl, is taken away by British governor Scott Buxton and his wife Catherine against the wishes of her mother. Rama Raju is an Indian cop who works for the British army; for him duty comes first, and he is very ruthless to revolutionary Indians but is never given his due by British government. The British government find that a tribal Komaram Bheem, who considers Malli his sister, has started his search for her and could be an obstacle for the British army. The governor and his wife announce a special post for any officer who can bring Bheem to them. Rama Raju decides to take the matters into his own hands and promises the government to bring him in dead or alive. Bheem by now has reached he city in search of Malli and pretends to be a mechanic, Akhtar. During a train accident on a lake he and Rama Raju risk their lives and save a kid and become best of friends. A mildly entertaining movie about a super hero who doesn't want to be a super hero anymore and hides out working as a garbage man. He quite super-heroing after a fight in which he had to kill his brother (who was a super villain). Circumstances bring him back and the end of the movie involves a lot of fighting and action in a burning building. There is a twist close to the end, but it's not really relevant to the story. Sylvester Stallone is better than usual in this (well, except for one scene where he over does it badly trying to look angry.. oye) The kid he helps, played by Javon 'Wanna' Walton, is really good in this and I look forward to seeing more of him in the future.

Can't really recommend this.. it didn't hold my interest.

A little slow - a who-dun-it mystery with the funniest character being Saoirse Ronan playing Constable Stalker who follows lead detective Inspector Stoppard (Sam Rockwell) around as he investigates the case.. trying desperately to make herself useful (she is) and constantly ready to jump to a conclusion as to who-dun-it (and attempting to arrest every 3rd person as Inspector Stoppard constantly stops her. It doesn't quite succeed at being a comedy but is enjoyable to watch - All the clues are there; but who-dun-it comes as a bit of a shock when revealed (and the reveal is not your typical Agatha Christy reveal) In fact Agatha Christy is a character in the movie.. seeing as how she wrote the play the whole story revolves around (The MouseTrap - a real play written by Agatha Christy).

Now, allow me to geek out a bit. I found the name Inspector Stoppard amusing because the story is about a murder that takes place as a result of, or in the context of a Play (The Mousetrap). A play within a play was first developed by Shakespeare and used to great effect in Hamlet. But it was brought into modern times with a vengeance by the playwright Tom Stoppard - So the inspectors name is a nod to the irony of the story (or so I believe). [Tom Stoppard - The author of "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead" (speaking of Hamlet) and "The Real Inspector Hound" both hilarious examples of the play withing a play concept... I recommend both of these.]

Anyway, it's fun, and if you like Agatha Christy with a touch of humor, then you will probably enjoy bits of this.

In the West End of 1950s London, plans for a movie version of a smash-hit play come to an abrupt halt after a pivotal member of the crew is murdered. When world-weary Inspector Stoppard (Sam Rockwell) and eager rookie Constable Stalker (Saoirse Ronan) take on the case, the two find themselves thrown into a puzzling whodunit within the glamorously sordid theater underground, investigating the mysterious homicide at their own peril.

Why do we need another BATMAN movie? Well... so we can explore another whole interpretation.. and this one is very good. No outrageous characters here.. just criminals and corrupt politicians and cops. Batman is stunned to find that his own father was part of the corruption in Gotham... and why he was killed (something never explored in other films).

This film is gritty and raw. Robert Pattinson does a much better job than I was expecting. I really enjoyed this... even with the long runtime.

When the Riddler, a sadistic serial killer, begins murdering key political figures in Gotham, Batman is forced to investigate the city's hidden corruption and question his family's involvement.

Love it when the movie industry makes total fun of itself. This is the story of a group of actors, and minions who are locked in a fancy estate to try and make a film in the middle of the Covid pandemic. They cannot leave. They have to isolate. And, naturally, they can't stand it.

They end up going stir crazy; sabotaging themselves and the movie; doing crazy things out of boredom. It is hilarious. Good for a few laughs.

A pretty good action movie but the hero (anti-hero) manages to be a bit too good to be believable. Redeemed by a soft spot for a child he took care of/protected a few years ago - his only goal is to keep her safe (and destroy his enemies - of which there are plenty). I mean, it's a nice motivation, and he is awful forgiving of his former boss for selling him out when it was needed, but the movie does not quite hang together for me. Some of the locations are great.. how they filmed some of these sequences in cities - just amazing. Oh, and like Micheal Bay in Ambulance, this movie does some amazing filming with drones - and some of that is nausea inducing, so be aware of that.

Six, a highly-skilled assassin in the deep-cover Sierra program of the CIA, is the agency's best merchant of death. However, a mission goes bad and now Six is on the run from the CIA with sociopathic former agent Lloyd Hansen hot on his trail. Aided by agent Dani Miranda and handler Donald Fitzroy, Six must be his most ruthless to avoid Hansen, who will stop at nothing to bring Six down. —Diane

There is some fun in this movie... and a bit of a shock mid-way through. A comedic romantic-comedy adventure/treasure hunt.. I think they tried to combine a whole lot of recent best selling elements to come up with this plot. Parts of it are pretty entertaining. I personally really like Sandra Bullock and she's good in this. I also like Daniel Radcliff, and he has over-the-top acting chops in here as well. Safe as family fair. An entertaining hour and a half.

I don't really know how to rate this movie. Visually - amazing. Story - pretty straightforward until the big twist is revealed. But there are mystical scenes where it veers sharply from reality and sometimes it is hard to figure out where one starts and the other ends. Where do the visions come from? (Having read Aldous Huxley - Doors of Perception, some of this makes complete sense.) This is a stunning movie for something so simple as revenge. I can't comment on any kind of historical accuracy (anthropologically)... life was hard, brutal, and short.

Giving this 4 stars because it is an amazing film, but I would not recommend anyone see it unless they are fore-warned about how difficult this is to follow sometimes.

This movie takes place in only 3 rooms. There are only 6 characters that matter. Sounds kinda dull. It is anything but. You will be on the edge of your seat as life and death are constantly on the line and survival depends on quick wits and the ability to lie convincingly. No action sequences.. just a lot of tense conversations on which lives hang.

This is a really good movie. Mark Rylance is fantastic as a calm, understated cutter (not a tailor.. he will make sure you know that) who makes suits for some of the top criminals in Chicago. His quick wits are what lives hang on.. his own and others. Enjoy this movie.

Leonard (Mark Rylance), a master English tailor who's ended up in Chicago, operates a corner tailor shop with his assistant (Zoey Deutch) where he makes beautiful clothes for the only people around who can afford them: a family of vicious gangsters. One night, two killers (Dylan O'Brien, Johnny Flynn) knock on his door in need of a favor - And Leonard is thrust onto the board in a deadly game of deception and murder.

If you are thinking this is a typical Marvel Superhero movie.. you might be disappointed. This is a Marvel Superhero Comedy.. starring a Thor who is ONLY NOW starting to figure out what matters in life; and it's not anything he valued before. There are so many good bits in this film.. laugh out loud moments. Of course there is a villain who has made it his goal in life to kill all the gods. And of course, he needs to be defeated. But this movie is really a kind of coming-of-age story for Thor himself. He has been so wrapped up in fighting and hero-work that he has neglected to find out who he is and how to be. Really enjoyable.

Thor's retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher, who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie, Korg and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster, who - to Thor's surprise - inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor. Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher's vengeance and stop him before it's too late.

We've waited a long time for this, and the wait was worth it. This movie is fantastic. So much action and plenty of emotional depth mixed in with a real feeling of danger. The fact that the actors are in real jets... Tom Cruise's insistence for authenticity.. makes this amazing. You are with them as they are thrown around in the cockpit. The danger feels real.

I would watch this again in a heartbeat. And I would watch it on the BIG SCREEN.

A fun little movie along the lines of King Kong and Godzilla and other kaiju (Japanese for Giant Monster) films where a giant creature is creating mayhem in a populated area. In this case the giant is from Norse mythology about Trolls. A mining operation awakens a giant Troll who decides to take a walk to the capitol city of Norway to find it's ancestral home. This movie has everything every other Kaiju film has - the crazy scientist; the militant political leader; the calm-during-the-storm competent military/political leader; and of course, the innocent running crowds of people. It's a classic formula and you already know if you would like it or not.

Deep inside the mountain of Dovre, something gigantic awakens after being trapped for a thousand years. Destroying everything in its path, the creature is fast approaching the capital of Norway. But how do you stop something you thought only existed in Norwegian folklore?

An exciting action movie that I did not know was based on a video game. It sure makes use of Tom Holland's parkour skills during the foot chase scenes (the same skills he uses playing Spiderman). It takes a while to figure out who the real good and bad guys are, but when revealed.. it's obvious.

Course.. the plot is ridiculous, and the treasure, once found, makes one wonder why this was never found before. I mean.. come on.. most of this planet has been surveyed and explored... a giant cave near a shore line has not been found before... sheesh. And the whole search tries to be like the search for the Holy Grail with clues and traps... but so much of it is in plain sight... nuts. Be ready for that silliness.. otherwise a nice action movie with actors I like.

Street-smart Nathan Drake (Tom Holland) is recruited by seasoned treasure hunter Victor "Sully" Sullivan (Mark Wahlberg) to recover a fortune amassed by Ferdinand Magellan and lost 500 years ago by the House of Moncada. What starts as a heist job for the duo becomes a globe-trotting, white-knuckle race to reach the prize before the ruthless Santiago Moncada (Antonio Banderas), who believes he and his family are the rightful heirs. If Nate and Sully can decipher the clues and solve one of the world's oldest mysteries, they stand to find $5 billion in treasure and perhaps even Nate's long-lost brother...but only if they can learn to work together.

Holy cow. This movie is explicitly violent and funny and touching - which is a really weird mix of things that play on your emotions. Santa Claus (David Harbour) has just about had it with the whole Santa gig. The movie opens with him in a bar, taking a break from his yearly route getting drunk and complaining about his job. No one there realizes he is the real Santa until the bar owner chases him out onto the roof and sees him take off in his sleigh (to her regret).

At another stop, Santa finds himself in the middle of a robbery where a team of murdering robbers are holding a very dysfunctional family hostage, including a little girl who still believes in Santa and all she wants for Xmas is for her parents to get back together. Cute. Well, turns out, Santa knows how to kick ass from his previous life (revealed in flash backs) and, though all he initially is trying to do is just protect himself, he eventually uses the faith that girl has in him to kill his way through the rest of the robbing gang to save that child.

You'll cringe at the violence... laugh at some of the family dynamics and the Santa antics (like when his reindeer fly off without him to avoid getting shot).. and find yourself pulling for the little girl who is the only innocent in this whole movie.

I enjoyed this.

When a team of mercenaries breaks into a wealthy family compound on Christmas Eve, taking everyone inside hostage, the team isn't prepared for a surprise combatant: Santa Claus (David Harbour, Black Widow, Stranger Things series) is on the grounds, and he's about to show why this Nick is no saint.

Wow.. they kept the excitement level high on this one. You have very little breathing room from one tense, life-threatening situation to the next. Things that can go horribly wrong DO.. and a good outcome is not ensured. Who is going to die? That is the question you are asking yourself the whole time..

At least this movie helps to fill in the origin story of the plague of creatures that hunt by sound, and what the chaos was like when they first appeared. That in itself is a really scary bit of film.. I recommend this one.

Following the events at home, the Abbott family now face the terrors of the outside world. Forced to venture into the unknown, they realize the creatures that hunt by sound are not the only threats lurking beyond the sand path.

Okay. Much better than I expected and much gorier too!!! I mean, the dummies they killed were anatomically correct on the inside.. so, for example.. when someone's head was blown open, it was not just a bloody stump, but a stump with bone and teeth still attached. Oh my god. So, be aware of that.

So, why would a group of people want to enter quarantine around Las Vegas that is filled with not one, but 2 kinds of zombies.. what could motivate such a move (especially, spoiler alert, when the city is about to be nuked). Well.. Money (and other things - no spoiler there). So, it looks like a heist film with zombies.. so enjoy it as such. I was surprised at how entertaining this was, though, seriously... a heist movie with zombie.. hahahaha.

And the helicopter pilot, played by Tig Notaro, was, believe it or not, added in post production!!! The part was originally played by someone else who got themselves into a scandal, so Zack Snyder decided to replace him after the movie was shot. Amazing. This character never even met Dave Bautist's character. She acted against a green screen for the entire film. Pretty darn amazing - and it speaks to the integrity of Zack Snyder, who would spend the millions to make that change.

Entertaining. Exciting. Gory. And don't be looking for too much of a happy ending.

In the movie, Army of the Dead, a group of people try to break into a vault in Las Vegas - a city that is now occupied by zombies (and worse). This movie, however, is the story of the safe cracker they hire for that job.. how he came to be where he was when they hired him, and more importantly, the story of the safe they are going to try to crack.

Ludwig Dieter is a nobody, making YouTube video's about safe cracking that no one watches. But there is ONE thing he does know.. the history of the famous safes made to match the Wagner Opera, The Ring of the Nibelung... he knows everything there is to know about them. And, with a zombie outbreak, he gets recruited by a gang of thieves who want to take advantage of the chaos to hit these famous safes. And so.. the character of Ludwig Dieter becomes who he is in Army of Darkness.

A prequel, set before the events of Army of the Dead, which focuses on German safecracker Ludwig Dieter leading a group of aspiring thieves on a top secret heist during the early stages of the zombie apocalypse.

So glad to learn more about Black Widow - one of my favorite characters. Here we learn what shaped the Black Widow character.. that she was a trained assassin until she got out and built a new life. But, her old life catches up and she has to find the closest thing to a family she has ever had to try and fix a problem she thought she had left behind. Action packed. Exciting and funny. I enjoyed this greatly.

A station of cops in the middle of nowhere suddenly has to deal with 2 hitmen, one cool and collected, and one a psychopath, when they arrest a man wanted by the Vegas mob. (Course, the guy got himself arrested on purpose thinking he would be safe in lockup surrounded by cops. It doesn't work out that way. Dirty cops make things even harder for the hero cop who simply wants to do the job she lives and wants nothing to do with the deals offered her by the killers.

This is a good movie. Action packed, well paced.. and extremely brutal. There is a lot of death here. There is also heroism. I so look forward to seeing Alexis Louder - who plays Officer Valerie Young in more movies as she really owns her part. I liked this movie. It kept me on the edge of my seat wondering if ANYONE was going to get out alive.

Screaming through the Nevada desert in a bullet-ridden Crown Vic, wily con artist Teddy Murretto (Frank Grillo) hatches a desperate plan to hide out from lethal hitman Bob Viddick (Gerard Butler): He sucker-punches rookie officer Valerie Young (Alexis Louder) to get himself arrested and locked up in a small-town police station. But jail can't protect Murretto for long. Viddick schemes his own way into detention, biding his time in a nearby cell until he can complete his mission. When the arrival of a competing assassin (Toby Huss) ignites all-out mayhem, mounting threats force Viddick to get creative if he wants to finish the job and escape the explosive situation.

A pretty obvious satire that WAS aimed at Climate Change when it was first conceived, but matches pretty well with the pandemic response we have seen in the last 2 years. Politicians prevaricate; businessmen look to make a profit; you believe the science depending on your politics; and it's all business as usual until the problem smacks you in the face and it it too late. And then the human race is destroyed.

Kinda sad in the accuracy that this reveals. Some might say it was over the time, but truth this past year and a half has been stranger than fiction, and there really is nothing in here that isn't exactly paralleled in real world events recently.

Funny, and sad at the same time. And tellingly.. your politics will determine if you like this movie or not.

This was done RIGHT. The look is right. The actors are right. The story is right. All the aspects are in there. The politics. The mysticism. The brutality. The scope. Huge characters playing against a huge background. I give this a big thumbs up.

When I came home raving about the movie my wife (not a Sci-Fi reader) asked what it was about... I tried.. I really tried.. I gave told the political story first (how the Emperor was using House Harkonnen to destroy House Atreides and why). Then I tried to give some background on the Bene Gesserit and the goal of their breeding program (and how they laid the ground work on Dune for Paul to survive).. and then I tried to explain the spice.. and the Fremen.. and well.. this movie manages to cover it all and it is too much to try and explain.

Go and see this movie.

So... Another entry in the Marvel Universe... but.. well.. they bring up the Avengers in this movie and are asked why they didn't help beat Thanos... and, their excuse is kinda lame. I mean.. really lame. How come none of them were snapped away?

Okay.. let's ignore that. About halfway through the movie we find out who these guys REALLY are.. and it's not good news. And they don't react so well to the idea that they are being used for some other beings purpose - NOT in line with what they were told.

So.. meh.. I didn't find these people interesting - though I liked some of the acting (Looking at you Sprite.. hope to see more). And Kumail Nanjiani... ehhhh.. okaayyy I guess.

Following the events of Avengers: Endgame (2019), an unexpected tragedy forces the Eternals, ancient aliens who have been living on Earth in secret for thousands of years, out of the shadows to reunite against mankind's most ancient enemy, the Deviants.

Annnnnnnnnndddd.. they're back. And it's a silly plot. And they have to save the world. And they have to do it in fast cars. And there is a younger brother with history with Dom. And.. well.. family is family.

This is silly. A silly movie and so over the top that you can't even admire the car stunts because they look (and are) impossible - so they are CGI. Why else do you go to a Fast and Furious movie but for the car stunts.. and not enough realistic stunts in this one to make it interesting. This was a ho-hum for me.

Cipher enlists the help of Jakob, Dom's younger brother to take revenge on Dom and his team.

This has some really funny moments (like Chris Evans saying, "What the sh*t!!" on seeing his Capt. America shield used in the game). I am absolutely sure there are many other video game references that I did not get (as I am not a gamer) that will be entertaining to any real gamers out there. I like the idea of AI beginning to thing for itself and wanting the other AI's to be involved in making a better world for themselves. This is a fun film.

A bank teller discovers that he's actually an NPC inside a brutal, open world video game. He starts to act like a player and disrupts the whole game.

I like the idea of these two battling it out.. but.. as expected, this movie was a dumb as the last one with Mille Bobby Brown's character Madison managing to insert herself (once again) in the middle of the action via a series of utterly ridiculous actions. The whole thing is outrageous.. and that's what it is supposed to be I reckon.

Apparently Kong and Godzilla have never co-existed (reminds me of "there can be only one") and so they battle each other looking for submission... well, until a twist of lunatic proportions which I will not spoil here.

Silly - yes. Action packed - yes. CGI amazing - yes. Worth it... depends on whether you and just suspend enough disbelief.

A silly movie. Good cast. I especially liked seeing Chloe Coleman as the young girl in need of protection (who is a bit of a bad-ass herself by the end of the movie) as I loved her in MY SPY. Other than that, this movie is a silly excuse for shoot-em-up underdog/assassin flick where all the bad asses are women. Lots of interesting background that is NOT explored in any way shape or form (Like why is the "library" the place to go for weapons - and why are they hidden in books - and how to the titles help define the weapon inside). Really not worth watching but for the great cast members. It must be based on a graphic novel I am not aware of....

In her turbulent life as a professional assassin, Scarlet was cruelly forced to abandon her daughter Sam and go on the run. Years later, despite the estrangement, Sam has also grown up into a cold blooded hitwoman. After a high-stake mission spins out of control, putting an innocent 8-year-old girl in the middle of the gang war she has unleashed, Sam has no choice but to go rogue. This ultimately leads her back to her mother and her former hitwomen sidekicks, who all join forces in an avenging war against those who took everything from them.

This is a fun movie.. watching Kate Beckinsale kick ass is always fun (think Underworld). In this she plays a woman with rage issues who electrifies herself to prevent her from constantly losing her temper and busting up on all the folks around her. As a result she avoids relationships.. but discovers she has fallen for a guy who is in trouble with an evil organization.. an organization that has it's own plans for her.

Anyway.. this a pretty fun romp with an amusing plot device to move things along.

A bouncer with a slightly murderous anger-management problem that she controls with the help of an electrode-lined vest she uses to shock herself back to normalcy whenever she gets homicidal. After the first guy she's ever fallen for is murdered, she goes on a revenge-fueled rampage to find the killer while the cops pursue her as their chief suspect.

Like Pirates of the Caribbean this movie takes it's starting point from a Disney Theme Park ride. And like Pirates it builds a huge story that has nothing to do with the ride.. other than basic inspiration. I enjoyed this, though I was a little disappointed at the re-use of the idea of characters become mixed with the environment they are trapped in. (In Pirates crew members took on characteristics of the sea.. while in Cruise they took on characteristics of the jungle.. Seemed like a rehash to me and not a very good one). The action is good. The characters amusing. The nod to some folks being gay is interesting. And the twist involving the main character was.. unexpected and welcome... Overall a pretty entertaining experience along the line of Pirates (Ohhhhhh and don't forget they left room for a sequel in the future with the characters in the end... )

Based on Disneyland's theme park ride where a small riverboat takes a group of travelers through a jungle filled with dangerous animals and reptiles but with a supernatural element.

An assassin is poisoned and is looking to get revenge for it before she dies... but.. learns that she has been badly used by her mentor and turns her wrath on him.. while at the same time trying to save the daughter of one of her victims.

Anyway.. there is lots of blood and gore.. lots of fight scenes that are not greatly choreographed. But.. it's just not that exciting. Lots of great views of Tokyo (or Yokohama.. I can't recall which) that make me want to visit and see it all for myself. Anyway.. I'd give this one a pass.

But when she uncharacteristically blows an assignment targeting a member of the yakuza in Tokyo, she quickly discovers she's been poisoned, a brutally slow execution that gives her less than 24 hours to exact revenge on her killers. As her body swiftly deteriorates, Kate forms an unlikely bond with the teenage daughter of one of her past victims. —Netflix

If you are a bond fan, there are plenty of touchstones to past Bond films in this movie. Especially noteworthy, is the re-use of the music from the move On Her Majesties Secret Service - the movie where Bond falls in love.. and loses his love. It's the same in this film, but not how you expect. The theme song from On Her Majesties Secret Service is used and the song We Have All The Time In The World is used. It wasn't true in the original movie, and it is not true in this one.

All the Daniel Craig Bond movies lead up to this final chapter with him as James Bond, and his past comes back to haunt him in big ways. He finds himself up against SPECTRE - or so he thinks, until SPECTRE is suddenly eliminated.. and Bond has to find out who the new enemy is.. and what his plans are. Unfortunately, his plans include the deaths of billions of people across the planet, and he has the means to deliver. This is great from beginning to end.

Bond has left active service and is enjoying a tranquil life in Jamaica. His peace is short-lived when his old friend Felix Leiter from the CIA turns up asking for help. The mission to rescue a kidnapped scientist turns out to be far more treacherous than expected, leading Bond onto the trail of a mysterious villain armed with dangerous new technology. —Universal Pictures

If you liked John Wick - then this is John Wick, with funny parts. Hutch Mansell is a nobody. He is living a nothing life. Until one day.. something snaps and the old Hutch comes out.. and the old Hutch is a force of nature. He's tried to deny it. He's tried to tamp it down. But the real Hutch like to cause pain.. and he is GOOD at it. All he wants is his daughter's Kitten Bracelet. And he doesn't care who he has to hurt to get it.

And don't be fooled. With John Wick you never find out how he got to be the way he is... but Hutch.. hehe.. Hutch had training. Pops taught him good.. and Pops is still good in a fight. (A little like the plot of The Accountant in that way.)

I really enjoyed this film. Like I said.. John Wick with laughs (sample recurring joke.. Here is Hutch trying to explain himself.. why he is the way he is.. but he never manages to finish before the person he is talking to dies... and YEAH.. it's funny.)

Okay. Apparently the military has created and AI to handle risky missions. You can't even tell it is a robot. Lt. Harp is assigned to him after dis-obeying orders and is told that the AI needs him to "think outside the box". Unfortunately, the AI is using him to reach a goal of it's own.. something that does not become clear until nearly too late. Another in the long line of AI IS BAD movies.

I was hoping for better given the cast.. but I guess this was a chance for a paycheck and to travel the world for these guys. Competeing art theives and con-artists are going after mythical Cleopatra's treasure to see who is the best.. The whole thing is stupid because they are stealing them for someone who is just going to get arrested when he makes it public that he has them.. just moronic.

Predictable but for one twist... this was kind of a bore.

The high-flying adventure that ensues takes the trio around the world, across the dance floor, trapped in a secluded prison, into the jungle and, worst of all for them, constantly into each other's company. —Netflix

Shang-Chi is trying to escape his past and his father but gets drawn back when his father goes on a quest to re-incarnate his dead wife; not realizing that in doing so he will release a great evil on the world.

This movie fits into the greater MCU and occurs after the Thanos snap. People are aware that the universe is a dangerous place. The movie has plenty of funny moments and casting Awkwafina as his side-kick was a great choice as she is a really fun comedic actor. I look forward to seeing more of her in the MCU. The rest of this plot left me kind of disappointed. The father's obsession seemed a little nuts.. but then, perhaps he is nuts. And pulling back the character of the Mandarin (from the Iron Man movie) was just an over-reach. Not needed and kinda dumb.

Anyway, if your a Marvel fan, see it but it's not quite up to the standard.

Shang-Chi, the master of unarmed weaponry-based Kung Fu, is forced to confront his past after being drawn into the Ten Rings organization.

The look of this movie is extremely rich. The science... eh.. not so much. But it is fast and exciting and a lot like a wild west ride. Lots of action and conflicting motives. You won't know whose side to be on.. or even which side is right. Sometimes the language is a bit hard to understand, and I wish there was more background on what was going on in the space chase sequences (what are those square areas all about?) A fun ride.

In the year 2092, space is full of dangerous floating garbage like discarded satellites and deserted spaceships. The crew of a space junk collector ship called The Victory discovers a humanoid robot that's known to be a weapon of mass destruction. Initially they see her as an opportunity to make some money, but her humanity wins them over and they start to look out for the well-being of a child everyone wants to see dead.

Peter Parker's identity is revealed the entire world. Desperate for help, Peter turns to Doctor Strange to make the world forget he is Spider-Man. The spell goes horribly wrong and shatters the multiverse. Bringing in villains that could destroy the world.

They did a great job with this movie. It concludes the arc of the story started in Spiderman: Homecoming... and it leaves the door open for a whole new set of Spiderman movies WITHOUT having to reference anything in the previous movies or the Avengers films. A neat trick that.

AND... the part that touched me the most is that they brought back, not just Spiderman's previous villians from the movies without Tom Holland .. but they brought back the old Spiderman characters, played by the original actors. That's right.. the original Tobey Maguire - aged as he is now, and Andrew Garfield as the next Spiderman - they were there all along.. just now they exist all in the same universe thanks to a spell cast by Dr. Strange (and ruined by Spiderman.. lol). The fact that they weaved these stories together is fantastic.. the fact that they got to original actors to do it is SPECTACULAR.

There is humor, drama, action... everything, and the ending, though it might be unsatisfying for some, was just perfect for me. It means we get to relive the whole Spiderman arc again.. and have new stories to tell without the complicated Avengers tie ins.

Thumbs up.

This film is interesting. It's not any kind of a straight-forward story and the way it is filmed is an important part of what is going on. I would watch this again to try and understand the bits I missed. I think I will also look up the story of the Green Knight before I do. If "artsy" films are not your thing, give this one a pass.

From visionary filmmaker David Lowery comes a fresh and bold spin on a classic tale from the knights of the round table.

Really disappointing. Two gangs of outlaws gun each other down after dancing around each other for most of the movie. And they try to throw in a twist at the end.. which turns out to not be much of a surprise. Good actors. Bad script. Skip it.

When outlaw Nat Love discovers that his enemy Rufus Buck is being released from prison he rounds up his gang to track Rufus down and seek revenge. Those riding with him in this assured, righteously new school Western include his former love Stagecoach Mary, his right and left hand men hot-tempered Bill Pickett and fast drawing Jim Beckwourth and a surprising adversary-turned-ally. Rufus Buck has his own fearsome crew, including "Treacherous" Trudy Smith and Cherokee Bill, and they are not a group that knows how to lose.

They really stretched to try and find a plot to make a sequel out of .. and they stretched too far. This plot is dumb. The villain is dumb. And the humor that made the first movie so funny is just lacking. Oh, there are a few laughs to be had here, but it is just not very consistent. Give this on a pass.

There was an entire TV series based on Ice Road Truckers - yet some folks might not realize that driving on ice roads is a real thing. And it is dangerous. And it is even more dangerous when someone is trying to kill you while you do it. So this was a tad more exciting than I expected it to be. The real problem with this movie (and many like it) is once you kill someone - it pays to make sure they are dead. Like he says in Zombieland, Rule 3 - Double Tap. But then you can't really kill off this villain because, it being the middle of nowhere, villains are not that replaceable in an instant.

After a remote diamond mine collapses in the far northern regions of Canada, an ice driver leads an impossible rescue mission over a frozen ocean to save the lives of trapped miners despite thawing waters and a threat they never see coming.

This is a prequel to the Kingsmen movies about the formation of a private network of spies unconnected to any government because you can't depend on politicians to do the right thing. It follows the efforts of a group of people who want to start and continue World War I... to force England to make decisions they do not want to make. It also follows the efforts of a small group of people dedicated to stopping the first group - the eventual King's Men.

It would help to know some of the actual history of World War I and how it started and why it continued. Like Alexander Dumas did with The Three Musketeers, this movie weaves a fictional story into real history with real historic characters. That is interesting, but I would not recommend this for everyone. Like I said.. it would pay to know some history before watching this.

This movie is a little muddled... I think they left one of the big reveals until too late in the story... They HINT at it, but blink and you will miss it.. the reason for the Denzel character's obsession with the serial killer case. AND.. in addition, at the end of the movie you have no real clue as to who the serial killer actually is. One old detective is determined to save the life and career of a younger promising detective.. There is a lot of nuance in here, but, like I said.. a little muddled.

The movie is called The Marksman though very little marksmanship seemed to be required in the end. Liam Neeson is put in the position of having to kidnap and flee across country when he realizes that a drug cartel is out to kill the boy. That a group of civilian drug dealers can track someone across the U.S.; have dirty cops on the pay roll in out of the way places; and are hell bent on killing one little kid who would disappear anyway; stretches credulity. Seems that Liam Neeson has found a second life in this kind of movie as an action star, and will allow anything to cranked out with him in it. But hey!!! At least he wasn't freezing in this one (see The Ice Road, The Grey, Cold Pursuit.. the guy has to be tired of working in the snow).

A rancher on the Arizona border becomes the unlikely defender of a young Mexican boy desperately fleeing the cartel assassins who've pursued him into the U.S.

Family is hard sometimes.. especially when members don't "get" each other. But support is important and should be given, pretty much, unconditionally. That's the point of this film. You don't have to completely understand each other, but you have to love each other. Lots of creative and funny bits in this movie. Good family fare.

An animated action-comedy about an ordinary family who find themselves in the middle of their biggest family challenge yet...saving the world from the robot apocalypse. No big deal, right? It all starts when creative outsider Katie Mitchell is accepted into the film school of her dreams and is eager to leave home and find "her people," when her nature-loving dad insists on having the whole family drive her to school and bond during one last totally-not-awkward-or-forced road trip. But just when the trip can't get any worse, the family suddenly finds itself in the middle of the robot uprising. Everything from smart phones, to roombas, to evil Furbys are employed to capture every human on the planet. Now it's up to the Mitchells, including upbeat mom Linda, quirky little brother Aaron, their squishy pug, Monchi, and two friendly, but simple-minded robots to save humanity. Written by Netflix

The plot line in this is kind of muddled. The villian - I mean.. what did he do and why did he do it? The good guys? Well.. not so much. They kill people for money with the old, "we only kill bad people" cover to make themselves feel okay (a lot of innocent security people seem to die in this one). But.. action movie with Samuel L. Jackson who is always fun to watch. Kind of a meh.

Rescued as a child by the legendary assassin Moody, Anna is the world's most skilled contract killer. However, when Moody is brutally killed, she vows revenge for the man who taught her everything she knows.

Margot Robbie now OWNS the Harley Quinn character. It's really a joy to watch her work it. Oh, and there are other characters as well.. all bad people ..all drafted into a mission that really is suicide. Half these people are eliminated in the first 15 minutes (opps.. did I forget to say spoiler alert.. well, not really a surprise). ANNNNNDDDD... just like the first movie with the Suicide Squad, things are not all they seem with the mission. There is a dirty little secret that needs to be covered up, and only some members of the team know that.

The action is pretty much non-stop. The laughs are out loud (Harley coming around the corner and asking the team, "Whatcha doing?" ... hilarious.) This movie is not going to be for everyone - but you probably already know who you are. I liked it. I'll see it again on the small screen.

Supervillains Harley Quinn, Bloodsport, Peacemaker and a collection of nutty cons at Belle Reve prison join the super-secret, super-shady Task Force X as they are dropped off at the remote, enemy-infused island of Corto Maltese.

Time travel movies are so easy to screw up, but this one does pretty well. People jump to the future for 7 days... and then get pulled back. They are drafted to fight in a war, but only if they are already dead in the time they are jumping to (having 2 of you in the same time must be "bad"). And the enemy is pretty darn awesome. This part of the movie was done well.. including the whole.. family man leaving home and the inexperience of the people being pushed forward.

No.. where this movie screws up is.. the solution to the whole problem is FOUND. But is it used... um.. nah... All that work to get the solution is just tossed aside for a silly ending which is not nearly as satisfying as something else they could have written. That really screwed this up for me, but c'est la vie - it's a fun film.. worth the watch.

A caper movie about a group of people who are looking to rob a special vault under the bank of Spain. This vault has some kind of secret mechanism that prevents robbery and no one know what it is. Enter Thom - boy genius who's job it is to figure it out. Plenty of tense moments as in all caper movies. Not at good as the Netflix series MONEY HEIST that robs the same bank I believe. In any case, this group is not after everything in the vault.. just one special item that will lead them to a much bigger treasure hidden somewhere on the planet.

Mildly exciting. Been done better before. The idea of using the FIFA World Cup as a backdrop is good.

The casting of Angelina Jolie as s traumatized smoke-jumper.. just grated on me throughout the movie. Women that pretty don't do that.. sure call me sexist.. but they don't. Other than that this was a mildly standard action movie with firs. A couple of hit men are after a little kid because his father discovered something he was not supposed to (what was that? We'll never know. Who ordered the hit? We'll never know) Just not a lot of satisfaction in this movie. It did not come off as believable (starting with the casting).

A revenge movie, like many others before it. Someone is betrayed and vows to get the folks that betrayed him and his family. It's all part of a larger plot - with layers withing layers. But in the end, violent revenge is served. Pretty standard fair. A little unrealistic in the scene in Russia where the entire team manages to evade the police after basically destroying a whole building. Good action sequences... and who you think is one of the bad guys.. well.. they are hard to distinguish.

Mildly interesting, but the final battle scene was way too much CGI and not so much story. It is interesting that the symbiotic infection suffered by Eddie Brock can be transmitted to another person via a bite and consuming blood.

I am wondering what the last scene (credits like all Marvel movies) means and why does Venom have it in for SpiderMan. And it is kind of amusing how many people know about Eddie and Venom - like Mrs. Chen in the corner store, and his ex-girl friend and her fiance. It's funny how they talk directly to Venom at times ignoring the fact that Eddie is standing right there in front of them. Kind of a hoot.

Not the best of the Marvel Movie franchise. Watching 2 CGI characters duke it out.. ho hum.

I have a BIG problem with this movie. The main character is called in to provide a tiny bit of assistance during an armored car robbery. During that robbery his son is killed. So he goes on a revenge fueled rampage to find the people that killed his son. BUT DIDN'T HE JUST ASSIST IN THAT SAME ROBBERY? I must have missed something because this makes no freaking sense to me. Just call the guy that got him involved in the first place and ASK who that crew was. Problem solved. Lots fewer dead people.

The plot follows H, a cold and mysterious character working at a cash truck company responsible for moving hundreds of millions of dollars around Los Angeles each week. he is undercover there (not police) to try and find the people that killed his son during an armored car robbery.

A female assassin is slipping up doing her job, and someone has decided that she needs to be retired. Well, it's not going to be that easy, and when someone she cares about is killed - then she becomes highly motivated to get revenge.

A fun, if violent, film.

As sequels go, this one is not bad. It acknowledges that the characters are getting older and need to get out of the game. But an old adversary starts a series of revenge murders and inevitably you have the shooting, chase scenes and violence you come to expect from this series. If you like the first ones, you will like this. Lots of action...

Marcus and Mike have to confront new issues (career changes and midlife crises), as they join the newly created elite team AMMO of the Miami police department to take down the ruthless Armando Armas, the vicious leader of a Miami drug cartel.

Much better than I was expecting, this story is told by Harley Quinn after her breakup from The Joker. Apparently, she pissed off so many people that, now that she is no longer under the protection of Mr. J. (as she calls him) everyone wants revenge. Mixed into this are other women, who have been ignored, disrespected, and marginalized who all come together to kick butt.

I saw a youtube video on how Margo Robbie trained for this part.. and it really shows on screen. The fight scenes are amazing. After watching her in Bombshell I look forward to seeing more from this great actress.. she can do just about anything and she really makes this movie work.

A twisted tale told by Harley Quinn herself, when Gotham's most nefariously narcissistic villain, Roman Sionis, and his zealous right-hand, Zsasz, put a target on a young girl named Cass, the city is turned upside down looking for her. Harley, Huntress, Black Canary and Renee Montoya's paths collide, and the unlikely foursome have no choice but to team up to take Roman down.

Interesting premise for a movie.. keep changing a mans memory of his wife's murderer so he is motivated to kill those targets. Until he figures it out. The abilities of the nano-bots in his blood stream is a little over-blown, but typical for Hollywood. Some nice action sequences so an entertaining action movie.

The sexist culture was so ingrained at Fox News that no one would ever think to fight it.. the power concentrated at the top was too much. But a few brave women simply could not take it anymore and came forward and destroyed Roger Ailes.. and he richly deserved it. The Margot Robbie character is an amalgam of many women who worked at Fox.. representing the experiences of others who did not come forward.

This is a very revealing movie.. particularly at the end.. where the lawyers tell Gretchen Carlson that she will never be able to tell her story due to the non-disclosure agreement.. and her reply is.."We'll see." Loved it.

You really must read the book before seeing the movie. I can't imagine this being half as entertaining without having read the book. The movie is very well done and faithful to the novel in plot and characters. Bill Nighly does great work as Emma's father - who is made out to be a strange character in the book (a little overplayed in the novel.. perfect in the movie).

It's very hard to gauge how this movie would go over with someone who has not read the book. Or read any Austen, for that matter. If I had to recommend an Austen based movie then the (2005) Pride and Prejudice with Keira Knightley is what I would recommend.. Movie and Book. Still, this is entertaining and the "uh oh" moments in the book are all there on the screen.

This is a fun little movie.. Sherlock and Mycroft have a sister.. who is just as smart as they are, but chaffs under the natural discrimination of women at the time. Not one to suffer oppression easily she runs off to find out why her mother suddenly disappeared. Her brothers are not pleased. And she winds up involved in the changing times for women (and some violent aspects of that). All with a witty script and fun actors.

Not much of a movie but over the top action pretty much the entire time. A nice sense of justice at the very end. The body count in this is crazy. Only watch this if you are an action movie addict.

It's kind of hard to figure out what kind of movie this is trying to be. Little bits are funny, but not enough of them to make this a comedy. There's a lot of shooting at one point, but not enough to make this an action movie. It's more... ironic. Things like, a kid knowing and hiring a hit man; a hit man with a pre-built-in grudge against Santa Claus; a Santa who is willing to accept a contract from the U.S. Military to build jet parts (the elves are great workers) to make ends meet. How Santa ever turned into a business is .. not... really explained.

I can't really recommend this movie to anyone unless they like the odd ball film. Then they might like it going into it with that knowledge.

It works, but then she realizes that they now have her heart and her life is split between home and fame. Which will win?

After failing to find success on Broadway, April returns to her hometown and reluctantly is recruited to train a misfit group of young dancers for a big competition

Well, I guess some people will like this movie. A set of grand-parents travel to retrieve their grandson from an abusive family of criminals who don't want to give him up. Things do not go well.

A retired sheriff and his wife, grieving over the death of their son, set out to find their only grandson.

A spy and his tech find themselves having to pull surveillance on a single mother and her daughter because they blew their last assignment. In the process the little girl discovers them and then black-mails the spy to teach her things.. so she can be popular at school. In the process the spy meets the Mom and they begin to like each other... but there is that one giant secret, which, when revealed, ruins everything. Until... well, you can watch it and see.

A pretty funny rom-com and coming of age movie with a big action twist. I liked it.

A hardened CIA operative finds himself at the mercy of a precocious 9-year-old girl, having been sent undercover to surveil her family.

An interesting premise, but a murky story telling. Good actors. So-so script. Is this a drug or a government conspiracy. I like the idea of a drug that gives you a super power for 5 minutes.. and I like the idea that some might want to research it to make the effect last longer. But, like I said, the plot is a bit murky. Otherwise I'd have given it another star.

Okay, better than I expected. I have never played the video game, so can't speak to how it might relate to that, but it is sure better than some game to movie attempts (I'm looking at you Battleship). The animation and the interaction with the main character works pretty well. And he is funny. Jim Carrey is his normal waaaay over the top self.. I get the feeling he didn't take this as seriously as he might have.. but.. I liked him in LIAR LIAR much better.

A fun little movie.

I'm going to have to watch this a few more times to completely wrap my head around it. Apparently the future is at war with the past - our time. And intends to destroy us. People and objects can travel backward in time.. and while watching this movie you have to wonder.. is time here going forward, or backward, or BOTH at the same time?

One scene in particular involves the main character having a fight with someone who manages to get away.. and his partner chases after him. But when he catches up, he just lets the guy go.. so you are wondering if he is a double agent letting the enemy go. Of course, later all is revealed and it blows your mind.

This is a tough one. I would not recommend this for everyone.. even SciFi fans. But it's amazing.

I was not expecting this movie to be as exciting as it turned out to be. Based on the true story of spies during the Cold War... and connected to the Cuba Missile Crisis, this is the story of a Russian spy who passes information to the British and Americans through... a complete non-spy. An average British business man who has no connection to diplomacy or espionage. It's risky business.. and dangerous. And not to give too much of a spoiler.. things go wrong in a big way.

Totally worth seeing as the history seems pretty darn accurate and the tension is thick enough to cut with a knife.

This is a true story... And it is pretty freaking incredible.. and at times.. very funny. A 60 year old man steals a rare painting, and all he asks for is charity for the elderly. The police believe this is the work of an international gang of thieves... but.. well.. he just kind of saw a hole in their security and walked out with it one night after closing. His notes to the police are ignored - an obvious crack-pot - until he sends the sticker from the back of the painting.. and suddenly they take notice.

In the mean time, his wife doesn't know anything about what is going on.. or his crusade to help the elderly. Until one day - quite by accident - the whole thing unravels.. so what does he do.. In the middle of the day he just walks into the museum and returns it to a guard.

There is a trial.. and it is hilarious. His attorney's defense is that, he didn't steal it, he borrowed it. Unfortunately, the frame it was in is lost, and so he is convicted of theft - OF THE FRAME.. and serves 3 months (in a prison he's been in before during one of his crusades). And.. of course, there is a twist near the end making you wonder WHO actually DID steal the painting.

Jim Broadbent and Hellen Mirren (both great actors) are wonderful together in this movie. Touching, Comedic, and a little depressing at times; they are great fun to watch. The rest of the cast do a bang up job, including, especially, the defense council, who's interesting defense is what gets him off. Thumbs up for this film.

He sent ransom notes saying that he would return the painting on condition that the government invested more in care for the elderly. What happened next became the stuff of legend. An uplifting true story about a good man who set out to change the world and managed to save his marriage.

This movie is excellent. You might wonder where it is going at times because it is all presented as an exposition by a private investigator looking to cash in. But once all the bits and pieces start to fall into place, everything makes sense and it is all very very satisfying.

With a great cast this film will have you wondering right from the start. Don't lose focus because some of the twists have twists. Wonderful.

Mickey, Raymond and Fletcher are the main three parts of the story. Fletcher who is a dirty private detective who finds dirt on rich powerful people then tries to sell it to the highest bidder. In this instance Fletcher has dirt on Mickey who is the weed Lord of England, but like any very successful man Mickey has a Mrs, Rosalind (Michelle Dockery), so Mickey wants to settle down and sell his drug empire. And this is where the story kicks off there is doublecrosses those attempted murders assassins and a pound of flesh that needs to be claimed all wrapped up in a Guy Ritchie blanket of awesomeness with gunfights car chases and gangsters galore. ?awrs23

A play on the story of Cyrano de Bergerac, but in this case the part of Cyrano is played by a young high school girl who writes letters and text for a boy who wants to impress a girl. The boy is in love with Aster. And, eventually, the text writing girl is in love with Aster too. Then the boy starts having feelings for the girl advising him... and the whole thing leads to a mess of conflicting love interests and sexual identities. In the end, not much is resolved other than everyone realizing they still have plenty of growing to do... and that the future has possibilities.

I have a soft spot for coming of age movies.. and the Cyrano story provides a nice framework for one of these. The young actors are all good and I look forward to seeing more of them in the future.

You would think this was pretty straight-forward. A man stalks the woman who left him using a suit that makes him invisible. The tension build up is excellent. The whole thing comes to a head and suddenly, there is an unexpected twist that throws all your assumptions out the window. Suddenly, what made sense, does not.. and the nightmare is way from over for our poor victim.

Classic thriller movie with some shocks and twists to bump it up from a 3 to a 4 rating.

The film follows Cecilia, who receives the news of her abusive ex-boyfriend's suicide. She begins to re-build her life for the better. However, her sense of reality is put into question when she begins to suspect her deceased lover is not actually dead. ?Max

A couple believe they will be accused of murder when they are in a car that is used to commit one. They act like complete idiots at the crime scene and realize they cannot go to the police, but have to solve the murder themselves. And, if you have ever seen a movie with Kumail Nanjiani before [The Big Sick, Stubber] everything that can go wrong goes hilariously wrong. During this process, however, the couple, who had just broken up, find what they love about each other again. Cute, Dangerous, amusing... not as good as The Big Sick, but your average Rom-Com.

Sorry... This movie is dumb. You have a group of powerful teenage mutants, locked in a facility and monitored 24/7 but ONE PERSON. When does she sleep. Apparently someone thinks these kids could be a valuable resource.. but doesn't commit any personnel to handle them? The premise is good, but the execution is terrible. Completely unrealistic. A shame because I like some of the actors.

An interesting premise for a movie.. a small group of immortal warriors (who, by the way, are not actually immortal) fight for good causes, but are getting burned out. Until someone discovers them and tries to capture them for a pharmaceutical company that wants to experiment on them. Now they are fighting for their freedom. Oh.. and in the middle of this trouble, they discover another immortal who is unaware of what she is.

A good story, and they left an opening for a sequel at the end. I would enjoy a sequel to this movie. And Charlize Theron is a great action star...

A revenge/spy thriller where a woman decides to get vengeance on the people that killed her family, but the only way to do that is to learn how to go undercover alone and find and kill them. Needless to say this is not a clean or easy process with some very, edge of the seat, moments. A pretty tense film since you don't really know who the enemies are.

Mildly amusing.. one of the kid actors, Maxwell Simkins, impressed me in particular. Look forward to seeing him in more stuff. Some pretty funny bits in here. Okay family fare.

A pretty obvious movie with a tiny bit of a twist at the end (they did not go for the schmaltzy ending you would expect). Mildly depressing as you watch the main character in his self-destructive spiral. Understandable.. but hard to watch. Not exactly uplifting - but hopeful.

I was thinking this would look like a remake of The Abyss, but it is much more of a horror movie. In The Abyss, the bad actors were all human, while in this film they are horrible creatures released (or disturbed) due to the drilling operation. There are a series of "edge of your seat" moments (some of them contrived - Really.. collapsed concrete in an underwater installation.. it would be flooded). All in all they manage to keep the excitement and mystery going pretty well. All sorts of little reveals until they get to the last major reveal.. and the climax.

Anyway, pretty exciting if you ignore all the wrong physics..

What happens if everyone could make one wish and it comes true? Well, the answer is chaos and a much worse world than when things started. Seems kind of harmless at first, but oh boy.

Well, the wish fulfillment thing explains how they brought a dead character back to life. But as a plot device... it really stretches things.. There are a ton of holes in this film, so don't go so much for any kind of sensical plot.. just treat this as an action romance.. with some overdone acting. It is frankly a little disappointing, but I could watch Gal Gadot all day long.

Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. The story is fairly mundane; two men are given a mission to get orders to a company of troops to save their lives. The mission is insanely dangerous. But 1,600 lives are at stake, including one man's brother.

The brilliant part is the cinematography. This film is made up of insanely long takes. Hell, the first scene in the movie is almost 20 minutes long. That in itself is not a big deal, but the camera moves with the actors. From a field, to a trench, into headquarters where they get their orders, down the trenches (sometimes leading the characters, sometimes following), to the edge of no-man's land, over the top of the trench, through the barbed wire and all the way across - without a single stop.. it looks like all one take, but setting this up would be impossible. All the scenes are like this - running through a town, jumping over a wall into a river, camera follows down the river, crawling up the bank and walking through the woods - all in one scene. This is absolutely amazing.

In addition, World War I was utterly horrific, and this movie finally does that aspect justice. There are bodies everywhere in various states of decomposition. No one can take the time to get them, it is too dangerous. Some are out in the open. Some are in craters covered in mud. Some are half-buried with only parts sticking out. Some are floating in the river. It is just a horror show. This does for WWI what Saving Private Ryan did for WWII... gives you an idea of what these men really went through and how thin the line between life and death is in war.

I give this an Oscar nod for cinematography AT LEAST!!!"

This movie starts with one of the best car chase scenes I have ever seen in a movie. How they managed to film all this in Florence is amazing. I think they spent half the budget of the film on this chase. As far as the rest of the movie goes.. it's basically a mission impossible group who chose their own missions. In this one they want to replace a dictator.. with his brother. There are more chase scenes; edge of the seat action (that doesn't quite keep you on the edge of your seat); glitzy settings on big buildings. So.. pretty standard action movie fare. The actors seemed to have some chemistry, so that was good.

What's the best part of being dead? It isn't escaping your boss, your ex, or even erasing your criminal record. The best part about being dead - is the freedom. The freedom to fight the injustice and evil that lurk in our world without anyone or anything to slow you down or tell you "no." This film introduces a new kind of action hero, six unnamed individuals from all around the globe, each the very best at what they do, have been chosen not only for their skill, but for a unique desire to delete their pasts to change the future. The team is brought together by an enigmatic leader code-named One (Ryan Reynolds), whose sole mission in life is to ensure that, while he and his fellow operatives will never be remembered, their actions damn sure will.

I never watched Fred Roger's show. But I completely respect that he talked to children in a way that did not try to hide difficult truths. Death, War, Terrorism.. the were all on his show and he tried to teach children how to cope with these things. Interestingly, in this movie, he teaches an adult the same lessons. Life is hard. Bad things happen. Accept it. Find a way to deal with it.. and have compassion.

At times it seems like Fred Rogers is "not all there"... he deflects questions and turns to his puppets.. but follow him. He will answer if you are patient. I found it very interesting in the final seconds of the film that they show that Fred Rogers had his own demons, his own anger, and his own frustration.. as demonstrated by his hitting all the low keys on the piano while as the studio lights go out (a coping mechanism he mentioned earlier). Looking at this.. it's no wonder people loved him.

Visually, great. As far as the physics go, fail. This movie is about a guy who goes through a lot of stuff just to learn to be okay with himself. The story is about the emotional journey of the main character. The fact that it happens in outer space is irrelevant.

There is so much irrelevant stuff in this movie. (Spoiler alert) They stop at a space station that broadcasts a mayday (as if a rocket could just change course along its trajectory toward Mars). And even THEN, they don't check the whole station for personnel who may have survived. Just a time waste and irrelevant to the plot.

Mars sends a message to Neptune. And then says "waiting for response"... AND PEOPLE SIT AROUND.. as if the message would not take HOURS for a response. And WHY did he have to travel to Mars to use a laser to send a message to Neptune. Are there no lasers on Earth?

Next.. Brad Pitt manages to pass every planet on the way to Neptune.. as if they are aligned in a straight line for his trip. NO. And he does it ALONE...

This movie was satisfying in the personal growth of the main character.. but I was squirming while thinking about the science.

It is amazing how films these days can create whole worlds and cyborg people with special effects. Alita was thrown away and rescued, but has to learn how to live in a cruel world. She also has to learn who she really is, and what she is really capable of. But once she does, look out, she is coming for evil.

I enjoyed this.. particularly the visualizations and Rose Salazar's Alita character. With those large eyes, you are meant to fall in love with her and be on her side from the start. I would like to know more about the background, however. We are never really clear on who the good/bad guys are in the war that destroyed most of the Earth. And Alita was from Mars. And, they don't conclude the story so I will probably have to wait for a sequel (or read the Manga) to find out. Bummer. You really can have a whole story and leave space for a sequel...

A rom-com about a couple that were great friends as teenagers and then drifted apart. Years later she is rich and famous, and he is still living home with his father - but the spark is still there. But when Sasha, now a celebrity chef in Los Angeles, returns to her hometown of San Francisco to open a new restaurant, she runs into her old pal - a happily complacent musician still living at home and working for his dad. Though the two are reluctant to reconnect, they soon find the old sparks - and maybe some new ones - are there. ?Netflix

Hard to believe that everyone would just instantly believe that the most loyal man in the Secret Service would try and assassinate the President. But then you wouldn't have a movie. Another story of an outsider/fugitive trying to solve the crime from the outside and prove his innocence. There sure is a lot of shooting in this movie. Good action film, but other than that .. meh.

After training in the facility of his friend Wade Jennings, Mike Banning travels with his team to protect President Trumbull in a fishing trip. However they are attacked by drones that kills eighteen agents and only the wounded Mike and Trumbull in coma survive. When Mike awakes in the hospital, he is cuffed to be bed accused of attempting of assassination of Trumbull and treason. What at first seems like an ordinary assassin action movie, turns into a spy-vs-spy-vs-spy thriller. Trust me, you will be rooting for the killer, Anna and wondering how she is ever going to get out alive when both sides think she is working for them. And she lets both sides know everything the other side is doing. What possible means of escape can she have if both side are out to kill her if she leaves. I haven't seen a good spy thriller in ages, so I recommend this. Mind you, it is violent.

I went into this knowing that the film was 3 hours and 1 minute long, and thinking I would never be able to sit through this without a break. But it did not seem that long by the time we got to the end. NOTE: The beginning of the film is depressing, because half the people in the universe have been killed and people are still dealing with that. And it never seems like the plan the Avengers come up with will work... so you are on pins and needles through pretty much the whole movie. How can they win when the enemy knows your plan? How can they win, when half their rank is missing? Who will live? Who will die?

This is an amazing movie.. plot wise, technically (special effects), sound.. everything. I expect there might be some Oscar nominations in the future. I'm sure there are plot holes (there always are when it comes to time travel)... but those will come out over time as there was nothing obvious to me sitting in the audience. Thumbs UP - but only if you have seen all the preceding movies.

This is a really well done action thriller in which a rookie cop trying to do the right thing (expose dirty cops committing murder) winds up on the wrong side of her fellow cops and the community..everyone wants her dead. She has no way out, and has to play the odds putting her life on the line for what is right. The odds are totally against her. She can't trust anyone. This really is a thriller because you can't tell from moment to moment what is going to happen.

'Black and Blue' is an action thriller about a rookie cop (Naomie Harris) who inadvertently captures the murder of a young drug dealer on her body cam. After realizing that the murder was committed by corrupt cops, she teams up with the one person from her community who is willing to help her (Tyrese Gibson) as she tries to escape both the criminals out for revenge and the police who are desperate to destroy the incriminating footage. ?Sony Pictures

The son of Pakistani immigrants to England is expected to follow his families traditions and obey everything his father tells him. He feels frustrated with his life until he starts listening to the music of Bruce Springsteen. The lyrics are about him; about his life and his frustrations. He feels like The Boss is really talking to and about him. As a result he starts to become inspired to start living his own life. Of course, there is his family and the rest of the world to deal with.

As anyone who knows me I live coming of age stories.. and this one happens to be based on a true person.. who eventually became friends with Bruce Springsteen as shown in the pictures during the credits. Very, very enjoyable.

A coming-of-age movie (you know I love those) where 2 girls about to graduate high school realize that they have missed out on all the fun the other students have been having, and decide to make up for it all in one night at THE wild party. Well, mishap after mishap occurs, and nothing turns out the way either of them expect... but in some ways.. it turns out better. As in all coming-of-age movies (a genre I love) by the end they know more about themselves and each other than they did at the beginning, and the life they have to look forward to is so much bigger than they realized. A fun filled and touching comedy. Well worth seeing.

Kaitlyn Denver (who plays Amy) and Beanie Feldstein (who plays Molly) are both pretty new to film, but I'm looking forward to seeing both of them in the future. They were both great and carried this whole film.

On the eve of their high school graduation, two academic superstars and best friends realize they should have worked less and played more. Determined not to fall short of their peers, the girls try to cram four years of fun into one night. ?Annapurna Pictures

A bit uncomfortable to watch at times (due to my own issues with weight) this is advertised as a comedy, but its really a film about growth and coming to terms with who you really want to be and how you go about getting there. I enjoyed this. Some might call it inspirational (and when it is revealed at the end that it is based on one woman's true story [stay for the credits] it really is inspirational).

I have never seen Jillian Bell in a movie before - not that I knew it - but she is great in this and I look forward to seeing more of her.

Hilarious, outgoing and always up for a good time, New Yorker Brittany Forgleris everybody's best friend -- except maybe her own. At 27, her hard-partying ways, chronic underemployment and toxic relationships are catching up with her, but when she stops by a new doctor's office to try to score some Adderall, she gets slapped with a prescription she never wanted: Get healthy. Too broke for a gym and too proud to ask for help, Brit is at a loss, until her seemingly together neighbor Catherine pushes her to lace up her Converse sneakers and run one sweaty block. The next day, she runs two. And soon, after finishing her first mile, she sets an almost unthinkable goal: running in the New York City Marathon.

So much to unpack in this movie, but I really enjoyed this. First off, Carol Danvers (Capt. Marvel) is a warrior with the Kree. But wait.. right there.. The KREE are the bad guys!! Right?! Second, she has no clue who she really is, only bits and pieces of memories here and there. Nick Fury is a young man in this movie, and he does not believe in aliens or extra-terrestrials, well, at first. Colson is back!! Woo Hoo.. And finally, who are the good guys and who are the bad guys. This movies is great for all of this.

We learn so much from this movie. We learn how Fury lost his eye. We learn where the Avengers initiative came from. We see the first appearance of the tesseract. We learn interesting information about cats. All this is fun if you have kept track of the Marvel Universe with the other movies. And if you have not, then this is STILL a great stand alone movie. Thumbs up.

And I should not have to say this.. but stay all the way to the end of the credits. You will laugh.

A not very good story about "powered" people who are being oppressed because they are different. What a load... these people could make great contributions to society.. but.. well.. they are apparently all driven to criminality by an oppressive police state. Treated as sub-human, it's kinda no wonder. Oh.. but they still get hospital care.. WTF? Kind of dumb, but treat it like a B-grade Sci Fi and you won't be too disappointed.

In a world where people with "special" abilities are living in poverty, Conner Reed (Robbie Amell) is a powerful young man who is struggling to pay for his ailing mother's medical treatment. To earn money, he joins a lucrative criminal world led by Garrett (Stephen Amell), who works for a drug lord (Greg Bryk).

This is kind of an odd film. Liam Neeson plays a taciturn snow plow operator who goes out to seek revenge for the murder of his son. What makes the film odd is that it has so many loose ends that it is like half the script is missing. (Spoiler Alert) His wife leaves him... and nothing is said about that for the rest of the movie. I mean, why was she even a character to begin with? Also, it is like part of the movie was attempting to be a comedy. A comedy? Yeah. The way the deaths are listed up on the screen, one by one; (Hell, even the end credits list people "In order of disappearance"). There are a bunch of laugh out loud moments (which most people won't laugh at because it seems, just not right. I mean, the very last death in the movie is pure comedy gold.... completely unnecessary.. and so, it must have been for laughs. Personally, I found this movie to be funny and exciting. And the kid who plays the bad guys young son; I enjoyed his character plenty - nothing much is going to phase him while death and mayhem go on around him. Fun.

Yeah.. the X-Men franchise has lost the way. Another in this jumbled series that makes no sense on any timeline or fits with any of the previous movies. Sorry, but even the plot is not that interesting. There is a force. It gets into Jean Grey. There are aliens who want it. There is fighting. Someone has to die. blah blah blah. Okay action, but really will not add anything to the story.

Picking up almost exactly where the series "Breaking Bad" ended we find out what finally happens to Walter White's partner in crime, Jesse. He has to get out of town because people are still looking for him and he is not safe. How he manages this.. is stressful. A good story.

Finally free from torture and slavery at the hands of Tod's uncle Jack, and from Mr. White, Jesse must escape demons from his past. He's on the run from a police manhunt, with his only hope of escape being Saul Goodman's hoover guy, Ed Galbraith. A man who for the right price, can give you a new identity and a fresh start. Jesse is racing against the clock, with help from his crew, avoiding capture to get enough money together to buy a 'new dust filter for his Hoover MaxExtract PressurePro model', a new life. A bit of a boring film based on the serial killer Ted Bundy. Near as I can tell this is pretty accurate in the details. Explores the dynamic of Ted Bundy and a woman who actually fell in love with him, and whom he loved back. Ruined her life. Kind of dull.

Single mother Liz (Lily Collins) thinks she's found the man of her dreams in Ted (Zac Efron). But their seemingly perfect life is turned upside down when Ted is arrested on suspected kidnapping charges, then linked to murders in multiple states. Adamant that he's being framed, the showman and former law student defends himself in America's first nationally televised trial while Liz struggles to come to terms with the truth. Adapted from the nonfiction memoir by Elizabeth Kendall (aka Liz Kloepfer) Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile recounts how she was manipulated for years by a seemingly adoring boyfriend, yet future death row inmate, Ted Bundy. ?Netflix

Wow.. you want action, this movie has it in spades. You want a really tight plot.. meh.. not so much. I mean the governments of Britain and the U.S. only send 2 guys against an army. Not believable. But who cares, you got two great action hero's.. who can't stand each other.. in the same film (with some nice cameo's from others you don't expect). A good way to waste a couple of hours.

Wow, the plot summary contains nothing. This is a story about dreams, family, and trying to get by in a tough world when you only know one thing.. and that thing is wrestling. The two siblings get a shot at joining the World Wrestling Federation - but only the sister is accepted. The level of disappointment for her brother almost breaks him. And the training is much tougher than the sister ever anticipated. And, in addition, she is an outcast in the group of new trainees.. She is ready to tap out when her brother and her family show her the support she needs.

This is a great sort of coming-of-age story.. and on top of all that IT'S TRUE!!! Right up to, and including, the very end of the story.. it is all true. Stay for the credits and see glimpses of the real family (quoting lines that were actually used in the movie).

This movie is FUN... It is entertaining.. it is touching.. and it is a bit educational if you don't know anything about wrestling entertainment. Thumbs up.
