Burning Man

Time Exposed Photo's

One of the nights I was at Burning Man, I decided to try a little time exposure photography on the Esplande (the main "street" that run around the inner surface of the giant "C"). I walked out, set my tripod and camera, clicked the shutter open, and then stood there to make sure no one ran into the thing. When I wrote up my first essay I had not developed these pictures yet. It had been a long time since I had done any time exposed photos, and I'd forgotten everything I ever knew about exposure times, etc. My previous photo's had been of the stars moving against moutains.

Anyway, I finally got these developed and some of them looked pretty interesting. The one thing that these photo's do, better than others I took at night, is to show the colors of Burning Man. In the normal photo's you can see lights, but the color's are washed out. In these you get a sense of the amount of color that is happening at Burning Man. I hope you enjoy these.
